Questions
Planning a trip to Meghalaya
Can't find your answer? Call or WhatsApp us and we'll help you plan.
Ask us anythingWhat is the best time to visit Meghalaya?
October to April is the most comfortable time, with clear skies for sightseeing and treks, and the clearest water at Dawki from roughly November to April. June to September is the monsoon: the waterfalls are at their fullest and the hills are lush, but heavy rain can slow down treks and road travel.
How many days do I need for a Meghalaya trip?
Three days covers the highlights of Shillong and Sohra (Cherrapunji). Five days adds Dawki, Shnongpdeng and Mawlynnong. With seven days you can do the Double Decker Living Root Bridge trek at Nongriat and travel at a relaxed pace. We'll suggest a plan that fits the days you have.
How much does a Meghalaya trip cost?
It depends on the number of days, how many people are travelling, the hotels you prefer and the season. Tell us your plans and we'll send a day-by-day itinerary with a clear price. Enquiring is free.
How do I reach Shillong?
Most travellers fly or take a train to Guwahati in Assam, then drive about 100 km (around 3 hours) to Shillong. Shillong Airport at Umroi has a few direct flights too. We pick you up from Guwahati airport or railway station and drop you back at the end of the trip.
Do you have Meghalaya packages from Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore?
Yes. All our tours start and end in Guwahati or Shillong, so they work from any city. Book your flight or train to Guwahati and we take care of everything from the moment you arrive.
How difficult is the Double Decker Living Root Bridge trek?
The trek from Tyrna down to Nongriat involves a few thousand stone steps each way, so it needs reasonable fitness and a full day. Take it slowly and it's very rewarding. If you prefer something easier, we can include shorter walks to other living root bridges instead.
Can I customise a tour package?
Every package can be changed: the dates, the pace, the hotels and the places you visit. Our tours are private, so the plan is built around your group.
